The 14th season of the Indian Premier League has ended successfully. CSK lifting their 4th trophy which made fans all over the world are excited about it. Most IPL Matches Played: MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni is the first name in this list of players with the most matches played in IPL. He was one of the greatest captain India has ever seen. His stint as an IPL captain for CSK has been nothing sort of exceptional with CSK reaching the final of IPL nine times under his leadership.
CSK has won the prestigious IPL title four times under his captaincy (2010,2011,2013,2021). Dhoni has played 220 IPL matches.
Most IPL Matches Played: Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma comes only Second for the most matches played in the IPL record. He has played 213 matches in IPL until now.
He also has a record for the most IPL season wins as a captain with 5 titles in his bag (2013,2015,2017,2019,2020). Rohit has the record for being part of most IPL title-winning teams (six times).
Most IPL Matches Played: Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh Karthik has played 213 matches for five teams in his IPL career. He is number three when it comes to most matches played in IPL.
In the 2011 edition of IPL, the player was brought as the second most expensive player of that year by Kings XI Punjab. Later on, In 2018, he was made the captain of the KKR side, replacing Gautam Gambhir. He led the side to the playoff where unfortunately they lost against SRH by 14 runs. Karthik was also the highest run-scorer for KKR that season.
Virat Kohli: Most matches played in IPL
The current Indian Captain has played 205 matches and comes fourth in the list. He is also the only player in IPL history to play over 200 matches for one single team.
Kohli has been playing for RCB since the very beginning and has been captaining the side for Nine years now.
In 2021, Kohli announced that he will continue playing for RCB as a player but is retiring from captaincy.
Suresh Raina
For a long time, Suresh Raina was the name that represented IPL Cricket. His nickname as ‘Mr. IPL’ is another proof of the fact.
And for a long time, it seemed his record as the player with the highest match appearance in IPL could not be exceeded.
Even today, he is among the players with most IPL matches with 205 matches played by him.
Ravindra Jadeja
Coming number sixth in the list is the famous Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, popularly known as ‘Sir’ Jadeja.
Jadeja was part of the Rajasthan Royals team that won The first IPL title and now has been playing for CSK for a very long time. He is often considered to be one of the greatest IPL all rounders.
The player has played 200 IPL matches by now.
Robin Uthappa
Throughout his IPL career, Robin Uthappa has been part of many different teams and different results but what has not changed is his consistency and reliability when it comes to IPL.
With 193 matches in his career, the 35-year-old comes seventh in the list of players with the most matches in IPL history.
Shikhar Dhawan
The left-handed swashbuckling opener has played 192 matches in his IPL career by now and ranks eighth in the list.
He has played for five teams by now, his most memorable participation being in the 2016 SRH title victory in which his contribution was very important.
AB De Villiers
The South African Legend has the record for most matches played in IPL by an overseas player.
The player is most famously known as Mr.360 for his ability to hit boundaries and score runs all over the ground.
The player is ninth on the list with 184 matches, most of which have been with Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Kieron Pollard
Just below AB De Villiers is Kieron Pollard in the list. Pollard has been playing for Mumbai Indians since the very beginning and has been a core player in their unit for a long time. The famous Caribbean all-rounder and pitch hitter has played 178 matches in his IPL career and has the record for the second-most appearance in IPL by an overseas player. He is also one of the only players in IPL history to have played for only one IPL franchise throughout their IPL Career. He ranks tenth in the list.
