Until the 2016 season, Indian former captain Virat Kohli had not scored a century in the T20 format. In that same season, he broke all major records by scoring four hundred in a single season and totaling 973 runs. The Talismanic Indian batsman has 5 centuries in IPL. He has a whopping 7263 runs in 237 matches. Leading the charts after the conclusion of 2023 IPL season, Kohli is also the 1st Indian with more than 10,000 runs in T20 cricket.
Most Centuries in IPL History: Chris Gayle
Chris Gayle is perhaps the best T20 player of all time, he has a total of six centuries in the mega tournament, which makes him the overseas player with the most centuries in IPL. In 2011, the Caribbean giant scored his maiden IPL century with stunning innings of 102 runs off 55 balls, which included 10 fours and seven sixes. Gayle has played a total of 4965 runs in 142 matches.
Most Centuries in IPL History: Jos Buttler- RR
Buttler played for Mumbai Indians in the 2016 and 2017 Indian Premier League (IPL) seasons. In January 2018, Buttler was bought by Rajasthan Royals in the 2018 IPL auction. Buttler scored 39 runs in the IPL 2022 final and finished the season with a total of 863 runs, the second highest in IPL history, beating David Warner’s 848 in IPL 2016. RCB poached ABD for the 2011 season and has been integral in the team ever since. He is known for his flamboyant and aggressive style of play. Sanju Samson- RR
The Kerala-born wicketkeeper-batsman has risen in the IPL in recent years. Samson has over 3000 runs under his belt in 152 matches. He is tied with ABD in the IPL most hundred with 3 centuries. His powerful display with the bat earned him Rajasthan’s captain’s armband in the recently concluded season.
Hashim Amla
Hashim Mohammad Amla, born on March 31, 1983, is a retired cricketer from South Africa who represented his country in all three formats of the game. Throughout his IPL career, Amla participated in 16 matches and amassed 577 runs in 16 innings. His highest score in the IPL stands at 104. Notably, Amla recorded two centuries and three half-centuries in the IPL.
