Arjun Tendulkar, son of legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is by far the greatest buy at the T20 Mumbai League auctions as the 19-year-old is picked for Rs 5 lakh by Akash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburb on Saturday. Another player who went for ₹ 5 lakh is Sujit Naik. He was picked by Bandra Blasters.
Arjun has initially drafted in the auction at a base price of Rs 1 lakh. Later, a coordinated session between the eight franchises was held. Several teams bid for him including Triumph Kings (Mumbai North East) initially bidding Rs 4.5 lakh for him but North Mumbai Panthers increased it to Rs 5 lakh and selected the player.

In total, 197 players were ready for the auction, out of which seven India U-19 players, including Yashasvi Jaiswal, were left out of the auction because they will be busy with the NCA Zonal camp during the tournament.

Each team was allowed to retain two players, but the North Mumbai Panthers hung onto just one player. Other retained players by different franchises include Suryakumar Yadav, Akash Parkar (Triumph Knights Mumbai North East), Shivam Dube, Siddhesh Lad (Shivaji Park Lions), Prithvi Shaw (North Mumbai Panthers), Jay Bista and Dhrumil Matkar (SoBo Supersonics), Shubham Ranjane, Tushar Deshpande (Arcs Andheri), Shreyas Iyer, Eknath Kerkar (Namo Bandra Blasters).
According to rules, the two new teams — Akash Tigers and Eagle Thane Strikers were provided the option to avail the Opportunity to Match (OTM). Later, Akash Tigers bagged him.

Arjun’s performance gained limelight last month in the DY Patil T20 Cup. He impressed everyone and was rewarded with a selection in Mumbai’s U-23 team for domestic one-day competition.
Arjun has always been a cricket boy like his father. He earlier participated in Mumbai’s U-14, U-16, and U-19 levels. He also made it to India’s U-19 team last year and played a game against Sri Lanka.
