It has been revealed that Amul, India’s famous dairy brand, will be the chief sponsor of the Afghanistan cricket team for the upcoming 2019 World Cup starting in England this month. This makes Amul the second Indian brand to sponsor a foreign cricket team after Sahara, who sponsored the Bangladesh cricket team.
This is the first time Afghanistan will be featured in the World Cup as a full member. However, in 2015, they participated as an associate nation.
However, the official announcement is yet to be made. One can expect the declaration to be made in New Delhi next Tuesday, but Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) CEO, Asadullah Khan, has confirmed it to some extent.

Khan said that Amul will be their sponsor for the World Cup. He further said that this sponsorship is only for the World Cup and they will be meeting the top brass of the company next week and then talk about the long-term association.
The present CEO of the team claimed that the team is confident of success in the World Cup. He said “This is the first time we will play in the World Cup as a full member and the preparations are good. We hope to do well.”
The home base of Afghanistan is in Greater Noida and Dehradun and the ACB plans to host the West Indies for a T20 and limited overs series in Dehradun in October.
On this, the CEO claimed that they will invite more teams and their aim is to have more international cricket in the future.
Afghanistan has plans post World Cup. The team has a 21 day preparatory camp in South Africa. They will also tour Scotland before the mega-event.
