Bindyarani managed to secure a silver medal in the clean and jerk event, which helped make up for her earlier underwhelming lift in snatch. The 24-year-old weightlifter had returned to her original 55kg weight category for this competition due to an injury she had suffered prior to the selection trials.
At the World Championships held last year, Bindyarani had competed in the 59kg weight class, which is included in the Paris Olympics, but she finished in 25th place.
