Introduction

Bishal Sutrodhar is another potential footballer from one of the remote villages of Bengal. He lives in Nadia district and is the second footballer from this district to have made a breakthrough by ensuring a berth among the six-chosen footballers from Bengal to train at Spanish club CF Motril for two weeks in September. Bishal, a talented midfielder, earned high praise from selectors and even from the Indian professional football manager Shankarlal Chakrabarty following the final selection trial.

“My father does immense hard work every day for our survival financially. Along with the parents, I have a sister who studies in school. My parents never tried to stop my passion for football. I am playing the game since my childhood, participating in school tournaments, sometimes in district tournaments. I was in search of a coaching camp. I obtained the opportunity of training at a camp for the first time at Ranaghat Municipality under a coach Bidhan Mondol. I was studying in 9th standard.”

The Nightmare of Bishal Sutrodhar

Bishal still remembers the nightmare experienced one-and-half years ago when he broke his right leg. He was then 16 years old and admitted immediately. He stated,

“I could not have been able to return to the field if Gautam Thakur, my sir at Bogula Football Foundation had not come forward. He not only helped me from all sides including the financial part, but he also motivated me every day asking me to keep my mental strength.”

Bishal Sutrodhar’s Desire

The 19-year-old midfielder, an ardent fan of Neymar and Kevin De Bruyne is thrilled with another opportunity offered by CF Motril. If the footballers can impress CF Motril coaches and selectors during the two-week training then the club will offer them to sign for their reserve team. Bishal said,

“It will be a great opportunity to learn a lot of things if I am selected for the reserve team also. My aim is to deliver the best and impress CF Motril coaches and selectors to avail the opportunity.”
