On Sunday, the Indian U17 Women’s football squad arrived in Thailand filled with high hopes as they entered the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup Qualification Round 2. Their optimism stems from their impressive performance in the initial stage, where they secured the top spot in their group. The players are brimming with excitement as they embark on this journey to Thailand, eager to replicate their outstanding qualification performance from the previous round.
In April, the Indian U17 women’s team achieved a significant milestone by emerging as the leaders in their Round 1 group during the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers. This accomplishment marked their debut entry into Round 2.
Competing in a three-team group hosted in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, Team India secured victories against the host team, Kyrgyz Republic, and Myanmar, concluding with an impressive total of six points. India is now positioned in Group A alongside the Republic of Korea, Iran, and the hosting nation, Thailand. The ultimate goal is to secure one of the top two spots in the group, which would guarantee a place in the final tournament scheduled to take place in Indonesia in April 2024.
