In the final of the Abu Dhabi Masters, a Super 100 badminton event, the women’s doubles team from India, comprised of Ashwini Ponappa and Tanisha Crasto, secured victory by defeating Denmark’s Julie Finne-Ipsen and Mai Surrow. The Ponappa-Crasto clinched the title in a thrilling contest that lasted 58 minutes, ultimately prevailing with a score of 21-16, 16-21, and 21-8.
The Indian pair commenced the competition as the frontrunners and lived up to expectations. Following a first-round bye, they convincingly defeated Farah Alhajji and Ghadeer Ali Altahri of the UAE with a score of 21-3 in both sets.

In the last-four round of the competition, Ponappa and Crasto faced fellow Indians Sikki Reddy and Arathi Sara Sunil. They secured a commanding victory, with a final score of 21-16, 21-14, earning their spot in the championship match.
Meanwhile, the women’s singles final featured an all-Indian showdown between Unnati Hooda and Samiya Imad Farooqui. In a straight-game match, the 16-year-old Unnati Hooda triumphed over her 20-year-old opponent, Samiya, with a score of 21-16, 22-20. This victory marked Unnati’s second Super 100 title in her career.
Unnati displayed remarkable consistency throughout the tournament, surpassing the tournament’s number one seed, Thet Htar Thuzar, in the semifinals with a convincing victory of 21-18, 21-12.
