Boxer from India, Manju Rani secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Sadia Bromand from Afghanistan in the final match of the 21st Mustafa Hajrulahovic Memorial Tournament held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina on Sunday. India clinched a total of nine gold medals and one silver in the tournament. Manju Rani’s exceptional boxing skills also earned her the title of the ‘Best Woman Boxer’ of the event.
In the men’s 51kg category, Barun Singh Shagolshem achieved a resounding 3-0 win against Jakub Slominsk from Poland. Meanwhile, in the men’s 57kg category, Akash Kumar displayed great determination in the final but narrowly lost to Sweden’s Hadi Hadrous with a score of 1-2.
In the men’s 63kg category, Manish Kaushik asserted his dominance, emerging victorious with a flawless 3-0 win over Palestinian boxer Mohammed Soud.
India maintained its strong performance in the men’s 92kg category as Naveen Kumar secured a thrilling victory against Mateusz Bereznicki of Poland, winning by a narrow 2-1 scoreline. Furthermore, Jyoti, Shashi, Jigyasa, Vinakshi, and Satish Kumar claimed victory in their respective categories by default, as their opponents failed to compete in the finals.
