The Proud Family
Bhuvneshwar’s father, Kiran Pal Singh, is a retired Sub-Inspector of the UP police. His mother is a homemaker. Bhuvi has a sister as well, Rekha Adhana. In fact, she is the one who encouraged him to take up cricket. Bhuvi’s father has always stood by him, throughout ups and downs.
Early Life
Kumar took his first step into the cricketing world by joining Sanjay Rastogi’s academy.
When he joined my academy, he had brilliant foot work enquired about his batting. He was a different person as he used to give equal time to both batting and bowling altogether. During the early years when we had barren grounds he used to practice with wet balls which hugely improved his game,” Sanjoy Rastogi was quoted by Xtratime.in.
Kumar represented Central Zone in Duleep Trophy and plays for Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket. The 2008-09 season of Ranji Trophy will always be special for Kumar. In the final of the tournament, Bhuvi became the first bowler to dismiss Sachin Tendulkar for a duck in first-class cricket.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar Wife
In the year 2017, Bhuvneshwar married Noida based engineer, Nupur Nagar. The couple exchanged vows in a lavish ceremony held in Meerut. The function was graced by various stars from the cricket fraternity. They became parents to a baby girl named Acsah on 24 November 2021.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar International Career
Kumar forayed onto the international scene in 2012 by making his T20I debut against Pakistan. The match took place in Bengaluru and Kumar took 3 wickets for 9 runs in 4 overs in the match and had an economy rate of 2.25.
He made his ODI debut against Pakistan as well. On his very first ball, he dismissed Mohammad Hafeez. He made his test debut in 2013 Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. He holds the record of being the highest Indian test scorer at number 10 (38 runs).
Bhuvneshwar Kumar was a part of the 2013 Champions Trophy winning team. He was also adjudged the Man of the Tournament in 2013 during the Tri-Nation tournament. After a promising start, there was a period of lull for the talented bowler. Bhuvi received a lot of criticism and many people assumed that Kumar had lost his focus. During this difficult period, the support of the national bowling coach Bharat Arun was pivotal for Bhuvi.

In February 2018, he achieved a five-wicket haul in a T20I against South Africa, making him the second Indian bowler to accomplish this feat in T20Is. In January 2019, during the initial ODI against Australia, Kumar celebrated his 100th wicket in ODIs. Moving to April 2019, he secured a spot in India’s squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup.
Unfortunately, Bhuvi faced setbacks as he sustained a leg injury that ruled him out of several matches during the tournament. Fast forward to June 2021, he was appointed as India’s vice-captain for the ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka. Then, in September 2021, Kumar’s name was included in India’s lineup for the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. In June 2022, Bhuvi was named India’s vice-captain for their T20I matches against Ireland.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar in IPL
After showcasing his skills during the 2008/09 Ranji season, he secured an Indian Premier League (IPL) contract with Royal Challengers Bangalore. Moving to 2011, he joined Pune Warriors India, but when the team disbanded in 2013, Sunrisers Hyderabad acquired him for ₹4.25 crores during the 2014 IPL Auction.
During 2016, he was a member of the Sunrisers’ squad that clinched victory in the 2016 Indian Premier League, capturing 23 wickets and securing the coveted Purple Cap awarded to the highest wicket-taker of the season. In 2018, Bhuvi assumed the role of the team’s vice-captain. In the IPL Auction 2023, the Hyderabad franchise acquired the services of Bhuvneshwar Kumar for Rs 4.20 Cr.
