Canada’s total versus Sri Lanka in the 2003 ODI World Cup was the lowest in the competition’s history. In Paarl, Canada batted first and was bowled out for 36 in 18.4 overs. Canada’s leading scorers were Desmond Chumney and captain Joe Harris, who both scored nine runs. Prabath Nissanka was the wrecker-in-chief for Sri Lanka, taking four wickets. Sri Lanka then knocked down the needed goal in 4.4 overs to win by nine wickets.

Prior to this, Canada had the record for the lowest total in the history of the ODI World Cup. During the 1979 Prudential World Cup in Manchester, England bowled out Canada for 45 runs. Franklyn Dennis led Canada in scoring with 21 points. England’s Bob Willis and Chris Old both grabbed four wickets. The English eventually triumphed by eight wickets. Canada’s 45 runs is the 2nd lowest score in the history of ODI cricket world cup.

The Namibia cricket team is third on the list of teams with the lowest totals in ODI World Cup. Defending champions Australia bowled Namibia out for 45 during an ICC Cricket World Cup 2003 match in Potchefstroom. Namibia’s highest scorer was captain Deon Kotze, who has ten goals. Glenn McGrath, an Australian fast bowler, took seven wickets. Earlier, Australia had 301/6 in 50 overs because of Matthew Hayden’s 88, Andrew Symonds’ 59, and Darren Lehmann’s unbroken 50.

India’s strong batting effort versus Sri Lanka in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match staged in Mumbai on November 2, 2023, saw them record a total of 357/8 in their allowed 50 overs. In contrast, Sri Lanka failed to create a rhythm, scoring only 55 runs in 19.4 overs. India won the match by 302 runs, demonstrating their better performance. In 2011, Bangladesh scored the lowest total by a hosting country in ICC World Cup history against the West Indies. At this encounter in Mirpur, Darren Sammy’s Caribbean team bowled first. The Tigers were bowled out for 58 runs in 18.5 overs, much to the chagrin of the home crowd. Sulieman Benn claimed four wickets, Captain Sammy and Kemar Roach both claimed three. However, Roach was declared the player of the match for his 3/19 effort, which featured important wickets from Mayaid Siddique, Tamil Iqbal, and Mohammed Ashraful.

Pakistan vs England

When Pakistan won the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in 1992, history was altered. They only won one of their first five games, though, as they had a rough start to the season. Pakistan’s batting failed miserably in their match against England. However, the constant rain helped them avoid a catastrophic defeat. Pakistan batted for 40.2 overs in Adelaide’s cloudy conditions but only managed 74 runs.
