The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the annual player’s contracts for the Indian senior women’s cricket team for the 2022-23 season on Thursday. The contracts have been divided into three categories – Grade A, Grade B, and Grade C.
In Grade A, Harmanpreet Kaur, vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, as well as Deepti Sharma are being put. Whereas, Jemimah Rodrigues, Renuka Thakur, Shefali Verma, Richa Ghosh, and Rajeshwari Gayakwad are placed in Grade ‘B’. Meghna Singh, Devika Vaidya, Sabbineni Meghana, Anjali Sarvani, Pooja Vastrakar, Sneh Rana, Radha Yadav, Harleen Deol, and Yastika Bhatia are put in Grade ‘C’.
Mithali Raj retired after the 2022 ODI World Cup, Harmanpreet captained India in all three formats. Harmanpreet has led the team to the 2022 CWG, where India reached the final, and the T20 World Cup earlier this year. In both, India lost to Australia in the final and semi-final respectively. The contracts have been awarded based on the performance and the overall contribution of the players to the team in the last season.
Recently, BCCI also hosted the inaugural Women’s Premier League, where Harmanpreet led Mumbai Indians to victory and beat Delhi Capitals in the final.
