Asian Games, Badminton: PV Sindhu admitted to making numerous mistakes following defeat to Pornpawee Chochuwong

PV Sindhu found herself outmaneuvered yet again as her aggressive play lost its edge following the first set. In the Asian Games team event quarterfinals, where India was vying for a medal and facing Pornpawee Chochuwong in the opening singles match, Sindhu suffered a 21-14, 15-21, 14-21 defeat. Indian badminton star, PV Sindhu’s Performance in Asian Games was not so great, and admitted to making numerous mistakes following defeat to Pornpawee Chochuwong.

This loss contributed to India’s 3-0 defeat in the tie at Binjiang Gymnasium on Friday.

PV Sindhu, the team leader, is currently struggling with her form, making it uncertain to rely on her for securing a lead or winning pivotal matches for India. As anticipated, she faced defeat against Pornpawee Chochuwong. Her performance throughout this year has been notably disappointing. She stated,

“I was in control in the first game and in the second game it was 4-4 and then suddenly I’ve given her the lead and by the time I recovered it was too late,”

These moments of subpar performance often escalate into significant advantages for her opponent.

“I made a lot of unforced errors. There were long rallies where I was catching up but it was not enough.”

She stated that she should have exercised better control over the shuttle. She admitted that her connection with coach Muhammad Hafiz Hashim was recent, and building a strong bond would require some time.
