Virat Kohli explains BCCI officials after ugly spat with Gautam Gambhir during IPL match

RCB cricketer Virat Kohli has expressed his disappointment to BCCI officials after being handed a 100% match fee fine following an on-field verbal altercation with Gautam Gambhir during an IPL match between the Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore. In a message to the BCCI officials, Kohli denied directing Mohammed Siraj to hit Naveen-ul-Haq with bouncers and throws during the match, which allegedly led to the ugly spat between him and Gambhir. Kohli said he only instructed Siraj to bowl bouncers.

Several videos and pictures of the incident went viral on the internet, sparking a heated debate among fans and pundits alike. The clash of heads between the two former teammates wasn’t a pleasant sight, and as a result, both of them were fined 100% of their match fees.

The incident took place during the match in Lucknow on May 1 and has been the subject of much discussion since then. While Kohli was aggressive in his celebration during the match, he reportedly complained about Naveen’s aggressive behavior during the customary handshake after the game.

The incident has once again raised questions about the role of aggression in cricket and whether players should be punished for on-field confrontations. As of now, both Kohli and Gambhir have been fined for their behavior, and it remains to be seen what further action, if any, will be taken by the BCCI.
