ROHIT SHARMA VS SRILANKA

The mammoth 264-run innings by the Hitman should be called the mother of all hundreds, which is the world record for the highest individual score in ODI Cricket. Rohit’s 264 comes against the Sri Lankan side who were not formidable as they once were. This time around Rohit made up for the failure when he fell 10 runs short of the then-record held by Virender Sehwag — 219 against the west indies.

Rohit Sharma’s innings progression against Sri Lanka: 50 in 72, 100 in 100, 150 in 125, 200 in 151, 250 in 166, and he finished with a score of 264 in 173 balls. He lit up the Eden Gardens and the 2nd highest run-scorer that day was Virat who scored a half-century.

ROHIT SHARMA VS AUSTRALIA

The Hitman Rohit Sharma produced a masterclass batting performance in the last ODI of the series against Australia to score a then career-best 209. He achieved this score in just 158 balls which included 12 fours and a record 16 sixes with a strike rate of 132.27.

Rohit Sharma smashed the highest number of sixes hit by an individual in ODI by surpassing the previous record of Shane Watson who smashed 15 sixes against Bangladesh at Dhaka in the year 2011.

ROHIT SHARMA VS SRILANKA

Him again, this guy needs to stop now. Rohit had hit 25 boundaries of which 12 of them were sixes alone. This knock took India to 392/4 in 50 overs and eventually India went on to win the match comfortably by 141 runs. Sharma is the only cricketer to have scored three double hundreds in ODI cricket. It was also the second against Sri Lanka and the other one was against Australia.

It is the second-highest individual score by any batsman in ODIs after Rohit Sharma’s 264.

VIRENDER SEHWAG VS WEST INDIES

West indies again? Seems like they have a special habit of getting smashed by one player. Virender Sehwag scored a mesmerizing 219-run inning against West Indies at Indore. It was the highest ever ODI score at the time.

Virender Sehwag is without a doubt one of the greatest opening batsmen ever in the history of cricket. In a career spanning more than 14 years, the swashbuckling Delhi opener redefined the opening batting in all formats. While the people will remember the two triple centuries in test matches, his ODI double century in 2011 in Indore is equally memorable. Incidentally, that special double hundred knock turned out to be his last century for India in ODIs so it will always be cherished by fans all over the world.
