Delhi Capitals Team has been one of the most inconsistent teams in the global T20 league. Despite boasting several big players over the years, Delhi Capitals Team has never won the title.
After 10 years and six captains, Delhi Capitals Team is yet to taste the ultimate victory in the IPL, one that would end the decade-old wait.
In its pursuit to lift the IPL trophy, DC IPL has seen ace cricketers taking the captaincy and succumbing to pressure, much of which stems from mounting expectations and then ultimate despair of not fulfilling them.
Delhi Capitals entered this new spectacle called IPL and left a mark in the very first season, finishing fourth. But the team has consistently languished at the bottom of the points table for over half the past decade and this year was no different.
Gambhir in the forefront
DC IPL chose Gambhir as its captain for IPL 2018, considering his role in successfully leading his previous franchise, Kolkata Knight Riders to the title glory in 2012 and 2014. Secondly, the batsman had already played for Delhi, so it was more of a homecoming for him.
The left-handed batsman has over 4,000 runs to his name and is among the leading scorers in IPL history.
The dawn of Shreyas Iyer: DC IPL
In a sudden jolt, Gambhir announced his takedown as DD’s captain.
“ I announce Shreyas Iyer as the next captain. I think that is the way forward for the franchise and we all feel that he is going to do a very good job. He is the right guy to take this franchise and team forward and we believe that we have got the group to turn it around.”
“We still need to win seven out of the (remaining) eight games and it is absolutely possible in this format. Teams have done it in the past and we have the capability and we have the confidence to do that this year as well,” he added.
Delhi Capitals: The Young Trio
It seemed that the team would deliver a worse performance after Gambhir’s exit, but the young side showed a different character. The trio Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant, and Shreyas Iyer played as if it was art they had mastered very soon.
Overall, the youngsters have been convincing enough and it’s a long wait for the next season but a new avatar looks likely for Delhi Capitals.
The team still waits for its turn to live the moment of glory.
Delhi Capitals Owner
Indian Premier League team Delhi Daredevils is owned by the GMR Group and JSW Sports Pvt. Ltd.
The team is co-owned by a unit of the $11 billion JSW Group after it announced a partnership with the team’s current owner, the GMR Group. JSW Sports Pvt Ltd acquires a 50 percent stake in GMR Sports Pvt. Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the GMR Group.
GMR Sports was established in 2008 as a subsidiary of GMR Holdings for the purpose of owning and operating the Delhi IPL-franchise. Since then, it has also bought UP Yoddha, which is a Lucknow-based team competing in the Pro Kabaddi League.

Delhi Capitals Team/ Delhi Capitals Players in IPL 2021
Delhi Capitals Team is all set to rule the coming season 14th of the Indian Premier League (IPL) with an all-new look and an all-new lineup.
Delhi’s batting side has always been strong and it remains the same this season as well with most of the retained players being solid openers and top-order batsmen. However, ahead of the auctions, the team had two major areas to fill in – their middle order and their bowling reserves. With their new post-auction line-up, we can definitely say that the Delhi Capitals appear to be a much more complete team than before.
In this auction, the Delhi Capitals managed to secure some great players. Take a look at the strengths of the team for the upcoming season:
Thanks to the trade window, Delhi Capitals traded Shikhar Dhawan from Sunrisers Hyderabad for Vijay Shankar, Shahbaz Nadeem, and Abhishek Sharma. This did deplete the team of some bright young talent, but the advantage of having a veteran and solid opener like Dhawan means that the Delhi Capitals got themselves a great deal.
On to the bowling side, it is right to say that this season; the Delhi Capitals possess the most lethal fast bowling attack. Comprising of players like Chris Morris, Kagiso Rabada, and Trent Boult, along with Sandeep Lamichhane and the new addition Ishant Sharma, the team is arguably in a strong spot.
Adding some top-of-the-line spin bowlers like Amit Mishra along with Axar Patel to this lineup means that Delhi’s bowling side is just as strong as its batting lineup.
