On the 12th day of the 37th National Games, former World No. 1 archer Deepika Kumari was the standout performer, securing two gold medals and a silver at the Goa Engineering College in Farmagudi. Meanwhile, Olympian Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar reaffirmed his dominance in the 50m Rifle 3-position shooting event in Manderem. In the recurve category, Maharashtra, currently leading the table, along with third-placed Haryana and Assam, claimed additional gold medals to conclude the archery events.
With only three days remaining until the closing ceremony, Maharashtra continues to lead the medal standings with 68 gold medals. The Services Sports Control Board and Haryana hold the second and third positions, securing 54 and 50 gold medals, respectively, as they continue to apply pressure to the leading team.
Deepika initiated her medal-winning streak by securing a gold in the individual women’s category. Later, she partnered with Mrinal Chauhan to claim the gold in the mixed team event. Furthermore, her contributions assisted Jharkhand in securing a silver medal in the team event, where they narrowly lost to Haryana in a thrilling shootout.
At the Manderem Range shooting competition, Tomar outperformed Niraj Kumar from SSCB to seize the gold in the Men’s 50 M Rifle 3 Positions event. SSCB’s Chain Singh, who had topped the qualifications, managed to secure the bronze.
In the Men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol event, Vijayveer Sidhu, representing Punjab, emerged as the gold medalist, while Haryana’s Anish Bhanwala and Adarsh Singh clinched the silver and bronze medals, respectively.
