Indian compound archers extended their streak of victories, advancing to the finals in both the men’s and women’s team events at the World Cup Stage 4. This achievement secures two medals for India. Ojas Deotale, who had recently become the world champion, displayed his archery skill by shooting an arrow closer to the center (X).

This pivotal shot contributed to the Indian men’s team edging out Korea with a score of 235-235 (30*-30) in a shoot-off during the compound men’s team semifinal. The final for the gold medal will feature the men’s team against the USA. The Indian women’s compound team, who secured the world championship title in Berlin just under a fortnight ago, made a remarkable comeback to secure a 234-233 victory over Britain. The highly-ranked Indian trio comprising Jyothi Surekha Vennam, Aditi Swami, and Parneet Kaur, will be competing against Mexico in the ultimate showdown.

The male trio consisting of Deotale, Prathamesh Jawkar, and Abhishek Verma lost their advantage of two points as they allowed the Korean team, composed of Choi Yonghee, Kim Jongho, and Yang Jaewon, to equalize the scores during the fourth round.

The score stood tied at 235 apiece for both teams following four rounds, and the shoot-out yielded a matching 30-30 result, ultimately coming down to Deotale’s final arrow. In the women’s semifinal match, India was initially behind at 59-60, but swiftly took the lead in the subsequent round. However, Britain managed to regain the advantage at 176-175. Yet, during the fourth round, the Indian trio delivered an almost flawless performance, scoring 59 out of 60, solidifying their spot in the finals.
