Rajesh Ramesh, born on 28th March 1999, is a notable Indian track and field athlete, showcasing expertise in the 400 meters discipline. Notably, he secured a silver medal in the mixed 4 × 400 meters relay event during the 2022 Asian Games. Following this, in 2023, he achieved a remarkable feat by clinching a gold medal in the 4×400 meters relay at the same Asian Games. His prowess in the sport was further exemplified at the 2023 World Athletics Championships, where he not only participated in the 4×400 meters event but also advanced to the final, having previously set an impressive Asian record of 2:59.05 during the heats. Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Amoj Jacob, Muhammed Ajmal, and Rajesh Ramesh formed a team that secured the fifth position in the 4×400 meters relay race final, completing the race in 2 minutes and 59.92 seconds.

Rajesh Ramesh Journey

Just a few years ago, Ramesh couldn’t have imagined himself competing at this high level. In 2020, he held the position of a ticket checker at Trichy Railway Station, a job he openly admitted he struggled with. Born on March 28, 1999, Ramesh now serves as a source of inspiration, not just for his athletic prowess, but also for his remarkable journey from working on a railway platform to competing on the global athletics stage.

At the age of 24, Ramesh displayed incredible determination and skill during the recent Federation Cup held in Ranchi. He completed the 400m in 45.75 seconds, securing the first position.

What makes Ramesh’s achievement even more remarkable is that he outperformed established athletes like Arokia Rajiv, who won a bronze medal at the Asian Games, and Mohammed Anas Yahiya, the current national record holder and a silver medalist at the 2018 Asian Games.
