Indian Sprinter, Amoj Jacob has quite the track record in Asian competitions. At the 2016 Asian Junior Championships, he showcased his prowess, winning a gold medal in the 800-metre race and a silver in the 4×400 metre relay. Notably, he achieved a personal best in the 400 metres in March of this year, clocking an impressive 45.68 seconds.

One of his standout moments was being part of the historic Indian Men’s relay team at the Asian Athletics Championships. This team, including notable names like Kunhu Muhammed, Arokia Rajiv, and Mohammad Anas, accomplished a remarkable feat. They clocked a blazing time of 3:02.92, the best in Asia for that season, securing India’s first gold at the event since 1975. What’s even more impressive is that Amoj Jacob was entrusted with the anchor leg, the final part of the relay. This turned out to be a brilliant choice because he finished first out of all the competitors in that leg, completing it in a remarkable 44.68 seconds. In 2017, he established a fresh national record in the junior boys’ ‘U20 400m event at the 33rd Coromandel National Junior Athletic Championship. His remarkable performance saw him complete the race in 46.59 seconds, shattering the previous record held by Virender Pank since 2006, which stood at 46.99 seconds.

Then, in 2019, during the Tokyo Olympics 2020, he achieved an Asian record in the 4×400 men’s relay, clocking in at an impressive 3 minutes and 25 seconds. This remarkable feat eclipsed the prior record of 3 minutes and 0.56 seconds, which had been set by Qatar at the Asian Games 2018.
